Initial reports suggested that everybody on board had been killed in the crash, but there are now details emerging of people being pulled alive from the wreckage.
The South Supreme Airliner came down at Wau Airport at around 3pm local time.
‘Right now we have the ambulance which has just come out from the airport and we have received 14 patients being rushed to hospital in stable condition,’ said State Information Minister Bona Gaudensio.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and pictures show the burned out wreckage of the plane with just the tail fin visible.
The crash is believed to have happened when the plane came down to land after flying from Juba to Wau.
Authorities are yet to give details of the number of casualties, but South Sudan’s Eye radio is reporting that nine people were pulled alive from the wreckage to be taken to hospital.
